February 2012

Friends & Family,

Well, I’m half-way through my orientation here at the Farm.  I can’t believe I’ve already been here a month!  Time is flying and things here are getting busy.  The countdown has begun for Africa, as I now have a departure date.  April 7th I will leave Dallas and head to Burkina Faso.  Forty-eight days until I’m on African soil!!  That day will be the culmination of a long process and the beginning of an incredible journey.  The excitement is building and I eagerly await that day!

Classes have been great.  This last week was really good.  Our president came to talk about creating a passion for prayer.  It was amazing and I’m still chewing on things he said.  Check out my blog in the coming days for a recap of that session and what the Lord is teaching me through it. We also had a few sessions on doctrine.  Now, I’ll admit that I wasn’t looking forward to these sessions at all.  Seminary had hammered them into my head…but Dr. Lawless did a phenomenal job of pointing out the importance of doctrine.  When you sit and really look at our doctrine of God, it should drive you to prayer and praise!  He is Lord over ALL.  “For from him and through him and to him are all things.  To Him be glory forever.  Amen” (Romans 11:36).  I was convicted that often times I take for granted what God has done for me.  It is my prayer that I never lose my amazement for my Savior.

This next week, we will be spending time talking about the persecuted church and then diving into the art of chronological Bible storying.  I’m excited about this week.  In addition to those sessions, we’ll also be meeting with our small groups each morning to continue to dig deep into Acts.  It is always a time of encouragement in the Word.  I’m blessed by my small group.

For the rest of this month, please lift up these requests:

  • Melissa (a team member in Burkina) has been sharing with two women (M & M).  Please pray for more opportunities to share with them and that connections in their village would be strengthened, so we can take over upon our arrival.
  • For M & M, that they would have the courage to meet to study the Word and for boldness to take the Message back to their village.
  • For the logistics teams with the Company.  Over the next few weeks they will be extremely busy scheduling flights and helping with visa applications.  Pray that everything would be approved on time and field arrivals aren’t delayed.
  • That my times would the Father would be sweet and that He would continue to give me a passion for my people.

Thank you for praying.  You are a vital part of this ministry.  I am thankful for your partnership.

Amanda
